He grew up in suburban Munchestein, near Basel, close to the French and German borders. Federer speaks Swiss German with his family. He also speaks German, French and English fluently, and conducts press conferences in all three. He was raised Catholic and met Pope Benedict XVI while playing the 2006 Internazionali BNL d'Italia tournament in Rome. In addition to tennis, he also played football (soccer) as a boy and considered becoming a professional footballer before deciding to pursue a tennis career.

Federer started playing tennis at the age of six. He began participating in group lessons aged nine and began weekly private coaching the following year. He played football until the age of twelve when he decided to focus solely on tennis. At fourteen, he became the national champion of all groups in Switzerland and was chosen to train at the Swiss National Tennis Center in Ecublens. He joined the ITF junior tennis circuit in July 1996. In 1998, his final year as a junior, Federer won the junior Wimbledon title and the prestigious year-ending Orange Bowl. He was recognized as the ITF World Junior Tennis champion of the year.
Those of us who witnessed the championship match at the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world, Wimbledon, also watched the greatest tennis player of all time win his 15th Grand Slam singles title. To American Andy Roddick, we tip off our hats. He gave everything of himself, gaining tremendous respect from fans around the world. He was cheered and applauded generously by the Wimbledon crowd and most tennis fans around the planet. For the greatest tennis player of all time, it was the zenith of his profession, the ultimate moment: Federer had won 15 Grand Slams in four different surfaces.
In the lead-by-example tradition of tennis, he gave props to Pete Sampras, the player he admired since he was very young, and whose record he broke today as Federer awaits the birth of his first son by his wife Mirka.
For all of us who have played the game and appreciate the talent required to achieved greatness in this tough sport, let the crowning of Federer be a part of our lifetime, a part of history in sports that we were privileged to witness.
Roger Federer is doing others activities like help to others persons. For this reason he has a Foundation and have a phrase “I AM TOMORROW’S FUTURE”. This most confident statement by Nolonwabo Batini, a girl aged fifteen attending the Ndzondelelo High School in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is the slogan of the Roger Federer Foundation (RFF). The RFF supports education, sports and leisure activities in places with little or no funding at all. The idea is to permit a maximum of children to make the slogan become reality in their lives and help them actively shape their future.

Roger say: In sports we learn how to fight: for victory, for the entire team, in order to reach a goal. In many countries of the world a majority of people, despite their efforts, does not have access to education or sports. This is precisely the point where the Roger Federer Foundation (RFF) wants to intervene; the Foundation is aimed at developing individual skills, searching for innovative methods of resolution and acting goal-oriented in order to improve the children’s situation sustainably. The RFF focuses on sharing the responsibility of problem-solving with the local community (in terms of content, organisation and finance). The chi
ldren, their families and the entire community must learn to participate in the analysis of needs, the development of innovative solutions as well as the proposal and implementation of measures in order to take over and maintain individual responsibility.

Cristiano Ronaldo (15/08/09)

Ronaldo was born on the 5th February 1985, on the small island of Madeira, which is owned by the Portuguese. Named after Ronald Reagan, due to his father's respect for the man, few would have gambled that this child would make it to the very top of the Football tree, especially with Madeira mainly being used for farm-land. He has one brother and two sisters, and it is family whom he deems most important in his life at the moment.

He was then spotted by former Liverpool manager, Gerard Houllier at the age of sixteen but Liverpool had no intentions to sign him at that time because they thought he was too young and he needed more time to develop his skills. However, in the summer of 2003, when Sporting played against Manchester United and defeated them, Cristiano caught the attention of Manchester United manager, Mr. Alex Ferguson.
Ronaldo became Manchester United's first-ever Portuguese player. Initially, he requested for the number 28 as his jersey number because he didn't feel that he could live up to the pressure of previous players such as George Best and David Beckham who wore the number 7 jersey.

The year 2006 to 2008 proved to be a rather controversial year for the star. In the 2006 World Cup, Cristiano faced accusations regarding his sportsmanship. In a quarter-final match against England, he was heavily criticized for sending of his club team mate, Wayne Rooney who was playing for the England team. It wasn't too long until fans started accepting Cristiano again. In 2007, he won PFA Young Player of the Year, PFA Player of the Year, PFA Fans' Player of the Year, Portuguese Footballer of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year and Manchester United's Players' Player of the Year. The year 2008 also saw him taking back the PFA Player Of The Year Award for the second time running. That same year, Ronaldo also had to deal with controversies regarding his club transfer to Spanish giants, Real Madrid. He eventually chose to stay with Manchester United and stressed to the public that he has no intentions of leaving the club.

In case you have not heard the fantastic news, just over a month ago Manchester United accepted an offer in the region of 94 million Euros for the services of winger Cristiano Ronaldo. The 2008 Ballon d'Or has been vocal about his desire to leave Manchester for Madrid for the past 3 seasons, and at last, his boyhood dream will become a reality when he completes the world-record transfer later this month.
It is expected Cristiano will become a Madrid player by June 30th as he joins Kaka' as Los Blancos' summer recruits. It is uncertain what number Cristiano will take up for the whites, as the number 7 jersey is famously occupied by Raul. Cristiano's legal team have already trademarked both CR9 and CR10 in preparation of his expected shirt number change.
On 10 july 2009 Cristiano Ronaldo was finally unveiled as a Real Madrid player on Monday in front of a record-breaking 75,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
